Wayne Schepens is a Senior Technology Consultant and Managing Director of WayneWright Strategy. In this role, he provides significant commercial product development, strategy, and positioning services to early stage software product companies. Notably, he has been involved in advising several of Baltimore's most exciting software companies from initial concept to fund raising, start-up, product launch, and strategic acquisition.
Wayne Schepens brings a long record of distinguished government service. He most recently co-created the National Threat Operations Center at the National Security Agency. His expertise in information operations, experience in managing software development and knowledge of the intelligence environment led him to be selected as Chief of the Office of Global Network Awareness, NSA.
Schepens has 16 years of concentrated experience in systems engineering and technical leadership, management and training. In addition, his 10 years of experience in information assurance provides as an excellent source of insight and knowledge. Wayne Schepens is a published subject matter expert in network analysis and information operations. His diverse background has led him to establish several operational divisions within the National Security Agency. He also served as the NSA Visiting Fellow to the U.S. Military Academy. While at USMA, he created and implemented the U.S. Service Academy Cyber Defense Exercise. Other NSA positions included managing the software development and systems security for the Data Network Operations Center, the F-22 Raptor Secure Communications Program and the DoDs Voting Over the Internet Program.
Wayne Schepens has held membership in the New York Electronic Crimes Task Force, IEEE Information Assurance Task Force, National Computer Science Honor Society (Upsilon Pi Epsilon), Virginia Tech Alumni Society, State University of New York Alumni Association, and U.S. Military Academy Honorary Alumni. Schepens played semi-professional baseball and continues to coach and run clinics with Ripken Baseball.
