Charter School Developer, Writer/Editor, Community Volunteer

I am one of the developers of the proposed Muddy Creek Charter School in Corvallis, OR. The Muddy Creek Charter School proposes to use intensive project and service learning in a rural environment to educate children living in rural parts of Benton County. I feel strongly that we need to support education for the rural community as part of an ongoing commitment to rural sustainability. I also believe that different children learn in different ways, and that a "one type fits all" approach to education is guaranteed to let some children slip through the cracks. Motivation, engagement, and relevance to self are some of the most important factors influencing a student's success in school.
