My Bio
Milton Gay is a nationally known, award-winning consultant, trainer, psychotherapist and lecturer on relationship skills in business. Licensed in Georgia as a Clinical Social Worker, he is the founder of New Directions Counseling Services, Inc., a counseling and consulting firm based in Atlanta, Georgia.
As a trainer and consultant, Mr. Gay specializes in the creation and delivery of individualized solution-focused programs in such areas as communication skills, leadership, personal effectiveness and team-building. He has enhanced the skills of executives, managers and employees both in private and public sectors, including manufacturing, utility, accounting, legal services and healthcare industries, along with several government agencies. He is a dynamic, knowledgeable and entertaining presenter, best known for his ability to use humor and visual images to make difficult concepts easily understandable.
As a clinician, Milton Gay has worked with individuals and couples for more than 20 years. While he understands that every person who works with him is a unique individual, he believes that much of good therapy involves helping people with the relationships they have with other people, and especially with the relationship they have with themselves.
Milton Gay resides in Marietta, Georgia with his wife, Culinary Institute of America graduate and past faculty member, Wendy Jones Gay. Raised in a family that owned men's clothing stores, and with a Masters degree in Social Work, Mr. Gay brings an understanding of communication and relationships and their importance in the business world. With many years experience as an actor and a nightclub performer, he brings a unique perspective on the sprecial relationship with a class/audience. His programs have won numerous national and regional awards, and even a special commendation from the Governor of Georgia. He is even more proud of being awarded a Challenge Coin from the United States Coast Guard.
A graduate of Tulane University, Mr. Gay continued advanced work at Georgia State University, and at the University of Georgia, where he received his Masters Degree. He was selected to Who's Who In Business and Industry in 1997. He is a member of the American Society for Training and Development.
Recent clients have ranged from firms as large as Home Depot, CIGNA and Siemens to those as small as Cleveland and Anderson (an accounting firm), Managed Health Network (a national Employee Assistance Company) and Sims Superior Seating. Mr. Gay is an annual presenter of continuing education programs for the Georgian Society of CPAs. His book on managing difficult people, Don't Squash That Flea! is awaiting publication at the time of this writing.
