Mike McCracken is the Founder and Chairman of McCracken Alliance, which designs, builds and operates leadership networks and programs in concert with leading universities. He might be characterized as a “serial entrepreneur” having founded many companies throughout his career including an internet services provider which sold in the late 90’s for several million dollars, and Tatum LLC, which became the first National Professional CFO Firm with annual sales of $200 million, and in 2010, merged with a $2.0 billion NYSE registrant. Through McCracken Alliance, he has been instrumental in the formation of numerous leadership networks sponsored by the broader business community.
The emphasis in all of MA's networks stems from the understanding that peer-to-peer relationships provide leverage through knowledge sharing and access to innovative value added business solutions. MA's primary networks and programs include:
-- McCracken Alliance Financial Leadership Networks specialize in building and operating networks of financial executives by teaming with organizations and sponsors such as Georgia State University, Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management, Rollins College, Ernst & Young, etc.;
-- McCracken Alliance Executive Leadership Networks focus on executive peer networks that aid C-level executives maneuver the maze of current business issues by partnering in idea sharing and relationship insights; and
-- Leadership Finance is a program built at the suggestion of major company CFOs who understand the difficulty in grooming future finance leaders to become worldlier in their approach to business issues. By garnering greater influence in the world of finance, future leaders can be more effective leaders in their own company.
At Tatum, Mr. McCracken served as the firm’s first President and member of the three-man Executive Committee, and is credited with building the national footprint of the CFO operations to more than 400 professionals in 30 cities nationwide. He served for many years as the leader of the Financial Leadership practice and on the Management Committee and Board of Directors.
In his earlier career, Mr. McCracken was a partner with Ernst & Young LLP in New York, where he reported to the Chairman and CEO, responsible for the oversight of the firm's initiative to develop an intelligence network among its top 200 multinational clients, which generate $500 million in annual revenues for the firm. His 20-year career with E&Y included Regional Director of Marketing and Strategy for the SE Region comprised of twenty-two offices in seven states. During his tenure, the firm's operations doubled, reorganized to introduce a specialized industry focus, and merged with Arthur Young creating the largest professional services firm merger at that time. He also served as coordinating partner on the team of professionals that designed the spin-off of Eastman Chemical Company, a $4.0 billion Fortune 500 manufacturer, from Eastman Kodak.
Mr. McCracken served in Regional, National and International positions at E&Y including serving as senior international business development advisor to E&Y’s member firm in Japan, serving in the Firm’s National Office advising on major business opportunities in the US, opening a practice office in Brevard County, Florida, coordinating services to Harris Corporation, a $2.5 billion Fortune 500 manufacturer, and serving as Manager of Emerging Business for the Central Florida market for two years, where he advised emerging businesses on accounting, tax, financing and other business issues. His clients included manufacturers, high-technology companies, distributors, construction, real estate and health care.
He has been a CPA in four states and has held a Certificate in Management Accounting (CMA). He is Founder and Executive Chairman of the Georgia State University’s Major Company CFO Council, Financial Leadership Network, and Private Enterprise Executive Leadership Network; Founding of the Rollins College Crummer Graduate School Financial Leadership Network, Chairman of the Board of Advisors for GSU's Executive MS Finance Program; Founder of the Americas Private Enterprise Leadership Network for CFOs; Founder of Leadership Finance; and the advisory boards of several emerging growth companies. He is a requested speaker at Universities and community groups on topics of entrepreneurship, professional services marketing and financial services.
