Lyn Ross is the president and founder of Institut’ DERMed. Descending from generations of Nurses Lyn was initially intent on pursuing a career in medicine however an on-going problem with teen acne eventually led her to the field of professional aesthetics. An overwhelming desire to combat her own skin condition would soon become a devotion and commitment to helping her clients with their skin care concerns. The intimate experience of nurturing another and dispensing advice on makeup and skin care came naturally and Lyn’s client list grew to include the Who’s Who of Atlanta Society, including her friend and client Jane Fonda. A passion for results became the fuel that inspired Lyn to spend years researching available products before ultimately determining the need to develop her own line. The Institut’ DERMed product line was launched in 1994. Today the line targets all five skin conditions and is interchangeable enough to successfully treat even the most problematic of combination skins.
Proven products that worked led to a developing Physicians referral network. Working closely with Atlanta’s top cosmetic Dermatologist’s and Plastic Surgeons Lyn built her clinical skin care practice into one of the first medical spas in the country, making her a true pioneer in this growing spa market segment. As a Licensed Master Aesthetics Educator, Lyn opened The Institut’ DERMed College of Advanced Esthetics in 1995 and developed the first Medical Esthetics Certification in the country, educating Estheticians, Nurses and Physicians on the specialized skin care and makeup techniques she used to help patients recover after surgery. With many of the professionals she trained wanting to know how to become a part of the iDERMed family and offer her unique skin health care concepts in their area Lyn launched her wholesale, distribution, consulting and licensing companies.
The Institut’ DERMed family of companies are creations born of Lyn’s vision to bridge the gap between beauty and medicine. With 12,000 Americans turning 50 every 8 seconds for the next 20 years the need for advanced education and high performance products to satisfy the demanding “Baby Boomer” population continues to grow along with Lyn’s continuing vision to assist spa professionals with their transition into clinical and medical aesthetics.
International product distribution, lecturing engagements, training commitments and consulting with iDERMed licensees keeps this diminutive powerhouse constantly on the go yet Lyn still makes time to work with a few select clients at her Atlanta Med-Spa, a testimony to her deep rooted commitment to others. What little time Lyn has left over in a day she devotes to a moderate fitness routine including yoga, weight training and jogging, traveling both at home and abroad with her significant other and, as she states, “continuing my eternal quest to inspire the many new friends I make along the way to take excellent care of their skin.”
