John Caplice is the CEO of BrightHammer LLC, a management company that joint ventures with start-up and/or work-out companies that are in need of sales, marketing or operational expertise. John also holds equity positions and serves on the Boards of CodeBlue Solutions and IO Innovations/MileFile. He remains active in the packaging industry as a consultant and subject matter expert, following seventeen years as a senior executive in that field.
Prior to joining BrightHammer, John was an officer of Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation, the worlds largest paper/packaging company. He served as Vice-President of National Sales, and had P&L responsibility for a multi-billion dollar business unit. He oversaw the creation and development of the industry's premier sales enterprise. Additionally, he had responsibility for the Global Sales team with principle activities in North America and Asia. In 2006 he also served as interim Vice-President of Marketing, successfully consolidating multiple disparate operations into one centralized business unit. In that role he had oversight of all Marketing functions, R&D, new product development, Innovation and Design Support.
Prior to his tenure at Smurfit-Stone, he spent a decade with Weyerhaeuser Company in positions of increasing responsibility, ultimately as a Manager of Strategic Accounts.
John holds a BA in Economics from the Virginia Military Institute (VMI), and an MBA from the University of Richmond.
