Don Hill - Professional Problem Solver

Don Hill has been helping others solve problems for as long as he can remember. During his early years, his parents owned and operated a small grocery store - Hill's Market - in McKinleyville, a small community in the extreme northwestern part of California. As soon as Don was old enough, he was bagging groceries for customers, stocking shelves, and learning the finer points of customer service from his parents. Under their tutelage Don was made acutely aware at a very early age that the relationship between a business person and the customers they serve is a critical factor in the long-term success of any business.

Don Hill's career took a bit of a turn in 1973 when he enlisted in the US Air Force and became a radio equipment repairman. Looking back, Don realized that he was fascinated by communications of all kinds. He was inspired in no small degree by his father, who was an amateur radio operator back in 1919, when radio was more of a novelty than a common household appliance. With the passing of his father in 1971, Don wished to broaden his horizons, and served a full year's tour of duty in the Republic of Korea, and upon his return to the United States he married Debbie, his high school sweetheart and still the love of his life for over 33 years. He spent the balance of his tour asembling and installing control tower communications systems throughout the western US, including numerous deployments to remote locations in Alaska.

Don Hill held a variety of jobs after his term of enlistment ended with the Air Force, and ultimately found himself engaged in the office equipment repair industry. For over 25 years Don enjoyed travelling from office to office "playing the part of the hero" as he likes to call it - to his customers by assisting them in meeting critical deadlines by repairing their equipment. Don thoroughly enjoyed the work because he found it to be mentally challenging, and as he is quick to point out, "I wasn't stuck in a cubicle with artificial light for 9 hours a day."

Instead, Don Hill was out constantly meeting new people and overcoming their technical problems. He quickly rose to the position of service manager of the dealership he worked for, and remained in that position until his retirement from the industry in 2005.

But service was in Don Hill's blood. With the advent of the internet and his`love for communications, Don turned his sights on searching out new ways to serve as many people as he possibly could, and through the marvel of the internet he found several avenues to accomplish just that.

Don Hill currently participates in a number of online programs, specifically in the field of business and social networking. He is a forum moderator on DirectMatches.com, and he finds it to be quite gratifying to be able to interact with such a wide diversity of people from all walks of life and from every imaginable location on the planet.

When he was asked what his motivation is to continue in service-related industries, Don said,

  • "I've come to understand that true success is found in assisting others to succeed, according to their own definition of the word. The joy and energy that comes from participating in an energized and forward-moving team - with all members focused on the same goals - is one of the most gratifying and personally fulfilling experiences I have ever come to know. And the people who I've had the privilege of getting to to know on a personal level - from lumberjacks to officers of Fortune 500 companies, from gas station attendants to presidential candidates - each and every one of them has contributed to my life in some fashion, and I hope that I have - in some small way - been able to return the favor."

In his "retirement" Don Hill now especially enjoys the company of his 3 grandchildren: Miquela, age 8; Jasmine, age 6, and most recently David, his 1-year-old grandson who constantly lends Don his youthful and energetic outlook on life (as Don continuously pries potentially lethal objects out of David's hands and mouth) and who provides Don yet another in a long stream of object lessons in the appreciation of life.

With regard to Don Hill's current pursuits, he's now associated with an energetic group of positive-minded internet professionals at My VM Team, which is a co-operative joint venture of online marketers dedicated to mutual assistance with the common goal of achieving success for the entire team. Under the leadership of, and in association with Jim Cobb and Stephanie Haile , Don is once again enjoying the company of upwardly-mobile people who have a positive outlook for the future, and he considers it to be an honor and a privilege to be an Elite Founding Member of My VM Team.

Additionally, Don Hill is very enthusiastic about his role as an affiliate of QAlias, assisting marketers of online and offline businesses by giving them an affordable means to develop a professional presence on the internet, coupled with top placement in search engine results, which greatly enhances their chances for success. In an industry which is known more for hype and exaggeration, Don realizes that the tide is rapidly changing on the internet, and that there is a genuine desire to find people who are trustworthy and who keep the promises they make. He sees QAlias as a means for someone with those qualities to make themselves known, and thus stand apart from all of the the noise and confusion that is so often associated with online marketing.
