Christina McCauley, a 21 year old with a golden voice, has just begun her journey as the newly crowned Miss Georgia. The Miss Southern Heartland contestant wowed the judges with her rendition of “And This Is My Beloved” from the musical “Kismet”, winning her a preliminary talent award. This is a very exciting time in Christina’s life as she is given numerous opportunities to speak about her personal platform and promote the Children’s Miracle Network as she travels, and makes appearances throughout Georgia.
Her platform of “Scoliosis Awareness” is very personal to her, since she was diagnosed with scoliosis at age 10. She endured wearing a back brace for four years at up to 23 hours a day. She credits early detection and compliance as the key to her recovery. Her platform "Scoliosis Awareness," centers on the importance of early detection which interfaces directly with the new Miss America national platform, the Children’s Miracle Network. Christina was treated at Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta, one of the 7 children’s hospitals in Georgia that is funded through CMN. Christina has also visited and volunteered at CMN hospitals, such as the Birmingham Children's Hospital in Alabama.
Her energetic cheering section includes parents Jack and Rebecca McCauley and sisters, Meghan, 18 a rising freshman at Kennesaw State University, and Katherine, 17 a rising senior at Pebblebrook High School. Christina has had the opportunity to perform in various venues including the Cobb Energy Center.
Also a winner in the classroom, Christina is a recent Magna Cum Laude graduate at Birmingham-Southern College, where she was selected for membership in Phi Eta Sigma, national scholastic honorary society. She was selected for the sensational Hilltop Singers, who perform across the country. A class Salutatorian with a 4.2 GPA, Christina was named STAR Student (highest SAT/GPA combination) at Pebblebrook High School, Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts, where she graduated in 2006. She performed for two years with ComPAny, the prestigious performing arts group at Pebblebrook. Christina is a member of BSC's Omicron Lambda Alumbi Chapter of the Chi Omega Fraternity.
To date, Christina has won almost $45,000 in cash scholarships under the Miss America Organization and America's Junior Miss Programs.
