Bob Phibbs Bio
In 1994, Bob started his own consulting company, The Retail Doctor, with a mission to provide training, inspiration and hope to small businesses; teaching them how to successfully compete in today’s retail environment.
By helping a coffee roaster that had been in business twenty-five years compete against two Starbucks, and increasing sales by 50% in one year, Phibbs found a national audience.
In 1998, the Los Angeles Times courted Phibbs to perform business makeovers. This grew to include familiar brands including Yamaha, LEGO, Hunter Douglas, True Value and trade associations around the world.
Phibbs was also COO and CMO of It's A Grind Coffee a regional chain of five stores Bob helped grow to over 130 locations. It was listed as the second-fastest growing business in Los Angeles County two years running.
Bob’s programs and his work have been featured on PBS’ Life and Times, as well as in Entrepreneur magazine, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. He is a frequent guest on MSNBC's Your Business and has a regular radio segment on Tuesday mornings on WHBC.
Phibbs is the "change or die guy" on the Gift and Home Channel. He owns a publishing company and is the author of You Can Compete: Double Sales Without Discounting.
His new book The Retail Doctor's Guide To Growing Your Business will be published by Wiley & Sons in mid-2010.
He is a member of the Author's Guild, National Retail Foundation, and National Speaker's Association.
