Bernie Parks strong belief in the quality of Education was highlight during the 1990’s. Bernie Parks chaired The Heritage School’s drive to excellence serving as a board member for 8 years. During this time the school tripled in size winning numerous awards. Bernie spear headed a series of the fundraising efforts allowing the school to expand
Bernie Parks’ 25 years of experience and dedicated service was acknowledged in 2000. By the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) they valued and recognition Bernie’s year of successful service.
The DFCS administrators witness first hand Bernie’s hard work as county nurse, her ten years on the Juvenile Panel for Court Review Board,
DFCS selected Bernie Parks as the perfect person to help solve their dire need of having a safe house for abused and neglected children.
Though Bernie Parks vision and countless hours she dedicated to this project of love..
Bernie coordinated fund raising efforts, combining corporate sponsorship, and a vast volunteer army to build Newnan/Coweta County's first and only children's shelter. These efforts produced an unprecedented level in our county of private and corporate collaboration
The multi-million dollar project began as a dream of Bernie Parks’, a vision of hope for children in need. A beginning of a solution to A PROBLEM to often HIDDEN AND MISUNDERSTOOD IN our COMMUNITES.
The results produce the creation of Angel's House, which has been a safe haven for over 125 children since it opened in June 2004. Recognized by the Governor as unparallel success of love and stewardship.
The reach and success of Angel's House is felt world wide and includes country music superstar Alan Jackson along with his wife, Denise who today serves on the board,
Bernie Parks continues to lead today, as a original board member of First Coweta Bank Newnan, Georgia only true community bank.
Bernie Parks is also a proud member on the Coweta County Board of Health.
