Her 20-plus years of consulting experience as Technical Writer / Editor in Information Technology, conjoined with her Master’s Degree (M.A.) in Literature plus a college-level Teaching Credential, provide Ann Sloan with a unique and highly effective balance of left brain / right brain knowledge and professional skills. See details on her writing & editing services at www.GeniusUnbound.com.
To this mix, add several decades of “other” writing experience: a varied spectrum encompassing business writing (marketing), newsletters, short stories, radio plays, TV / screen plays, poetry, self-help and inspiration, and even the creation of a unique writers’ seminar: her MultiDimensional Writing Workshop. And then there’s Ann’s probably favorite genre: humor and satire, which includes her writing freewheeling skits and zany lyrics for song parodies.
A notable example of Ann’s wit is her one-woman show: “As the Mind Blows: Episodes from the Strange Adventure”, plus other unique performance pieces she has written and performed. She characterizes this aspect of her creative work as “transformational storytelling and satire”, as she strongly believes in the alchemical healing powers and potencies of humor.
Ann’s multi-faceted life experiences are based on the fact she was born in Central Europe: in Hungary, and spent five formative years in Germany as a post-WW II refugee. As a young teen, she and her immediate family emigrated to the U.S.: a rural spot in the Deep South, actually! Many complicated years ─ quite a saga in themselves ─ have passed since that time, guaranteeing that she has an abundance of compelling stories and insights to share. As a result of living in various countries and cultures, Ann speaks five languages (English is her fourth, Spanish her fifth.)
After several decades of living in Southern California, Ann now resides on Bainbridge Island, Washington. Her passions for the arts include a vast range of books and movies (of course!), classical and world music; esoteric and metaphysical studies, foreign travel and ethnic cuisines. She treasures family time with her four remarkable adult children: two sons and two daughters, plus eight young grandchildren.
Ann’s primary creative projects currently include:
· As Featured Columnist for The National Networker (TNNW), writing articles and columns, plus participating in the various social media / networking activities involved with this weekly on-line publication.
· Completing graphics design and promotional tasks for her soon-to-be-published book: How to Use the Pieces of a Broken Heart: Recipes for Rebirth. See http://AnnBarczaySloan.blogspot.com
· Organizing her hoard of writings accumulated over the years: these may well serve as rich materials for a memoir.
